Manchester United Football: Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes cuts holiday short to train with former club Boavista

Manchester United ace Bruno Fernandes has worked hard to regain his fitness for his former club Boavista and wishes his childhood club the best of luck next season. The 26-year-old played an incredible season for the Red Devils last term, scoring 30 goals and recording 18 assists in all competitions, and was named Player of the Year by Sir Matt Busby.

There are signs that Fernandes is struggling with fatigue in the second half of the season. For example, former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said he looked particularly tired during United's Europa League final defeat to Villarreal. But United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer kept brushing those concerns aside, and Fernandes didn't let up when his club commitments were over and he had to quickly turn his attention to Portugal's Euro 2020 campaign.

But just three weeks after Portugal's loss to Belgium in the round of 16, Fernandes appears to have cut short his vacation and is now lacing up his soccer boots again in preparation for next year. Fernandes has not yet joined the rest of his teammates in preseason training at Carrington. Instead, he is taking the opportunity to work on his form in his native Portugal with Boavista. The attacking midfielder, who spent his formative years at Porto between 2004 and 2012, was photographed practicing with the ball and running around the training ground next to the club's Estadio do Bessa.

In a short video posted on Boavista's social media pages, Fernandez said it's always nice to return to the hometown where I grew up and have good memories. Looking ahead to next season, I wish you all the best and that this season goes even better than last year. May the best of last year be the worst of this year and I wish you all the best. The Red Devils travel to Derby County this weekend for their first pre-season game and Alex Telles is looking forward to the stern test that awaits him at Pride Park.

I'm really looking forward to the game and I'm going into it with a lot of desire, the Eintracht left-back told the club's official website. I think it's a really good opportunity for those of us who have played in the last two weeks. We worked really hard in training today and last week and I think this is an opportunity to show my value, quality, and potential at Manchester United.

Tomorrow afternoon's game will be a mix of youth and experience, with players like Ethan Galbraith, Joe Hugill, and Taiden Menzie playing alongside more familiar faces like Aron Wan-Bissaka, Juan Mata, and Nemanja Matic. Solskjaer will have to do without goalkeepers David de Gea and Dean Henderson, meaning either Lee Grant or Tom Heaton will start against Wayne Rooney's Rams.
