What to look for on a product review site

Product review websites abound on the internet, but they are far from all equal in honesty and integrity. Many product review sites appear to be unbiased at first glance, but a closer inspection indicates their true intention - to promote the products only favorably, so that they can earn money through affiliate links.

Here are some ways to assess if a site and its owners are only on it for the money, or if they offer honest, truly neutral, consumer-oriented product reviews:

1. Who runs the site? An actual review site will have an About / Bio / or Information page detailing who owns the site (and often why they started it). Too many sites that claim to be product review sites are actually run by affiliates posing as "honest" reviewers, when in reality their only intention is to recommend every product they write about.

2. Do the reviewers or site owners buy the รีวิวสินค้าไอที themselves? This is a critical factor for the integrity of the review. As in scientific studies, there is a strong propensity for favorable bias of a product if the reviewer did not pay for it himself. The fact that a reviewer pays for the products himself speaks volumes about his fairness and ability to remain objective during the course of the review.

3. Does the website review a variety of products or just one? A site that reviews a variety of products is more likely to be neutral and a real review site than a site that only reviews one product. Why would someone go to the trouble of creating a site for a single product and then giving it a negative review? Of course, the review will be positive (although they may sometimes throw a negative comment or two to give the appearance of being unbiased).

Single product sites are popular with affiliate marketers because search engines place a lot of weight on using keywords in the domain name (URL title). So if the product being reviewed is 'Acme List Building Secrets', then using a domain of 'AcmeListBuildingSecretsReview' will normally give that site a higher position in search engines.

4. Do the reviewers only have positive things to say about the products they review? A truly neutral product review site will have both positive and negative reviews. If all the reviews on a site are brilliant and all the products are endorsed, then there is a good bet that the reviewer is serving their own interests rather than the consumer's.

5. Does the review title use the word "scam"? This is a classic tactic used by many unscrupulous reviewers to use keywords in the title, as well as to give the appearance of propping up the trust factor. A sample caption might read: "Acme List Building Secrets A Scam?" - because you use the keyword phrase in the title, as well as that phrase will reflect what people type in the search box when they have questions about a product.
