Root Canal Therapy

Root Canal Therapy is a dental treatment procedure for the impacted pulp of a decayed tooth that is meant to cause the quick removal of the congested tissue of an infected tooth and the eventual destruction of the root of the tooth. The pain that comes with decayed teeth is often very excruciating, mainly if it is situated near the tooth's pulp. The removal of a decayed tooth stimulates the nerves in the gums area, causing them to secrete a liquid that is somewhat sticky and similar to the saliva of a human. This fluid helps clean the teeth' surface and removes any remaining bacteria or molds that have been deposited on the tooth surface.

Once a dentist performs root canal therapy on your teeth, he will use some high-tech equipment such as an endoscope, and he will probe your teeth with the endoscope to locate the nerves and blood vessels that are damaged and need to be removed. Once the dentist has successfully performed the procedure, then the process of stimulating the nerve supply starts. First, the dentist uses an electric stimulation tool that is a probe with a small amount of the anesthetic agent attached to the probe. When this process is completed, the dentist uses this tool to numb the area around the affected nerve so that it becomes incapable of sending out the necessary signals to the blood vessels.

After the entire procedure is completed, the dentist will place a temporary crown on your teeth. This temporary crown acts like a tire-like cap that protects your teeth from further tooth decay. It is generally held on the tooth for approximately one to two weeks, and after this period, the permanent crown can be placed on the tooth. If the patient undergoes root canal therapy, he may also require a crown that can accommodate his wisdom teeth in the future. The cost of such a procedure depends on the extent of damage inflicted on the tooth, the duration of time taken to complete the process, and the state where you live.
