The Royal Exhibition Building, which was designed and built in the nineteenth century by Joseph Reed can be identified as one of the major attractions of the city of Melbourne. It is located in the northeastern part of the business district surrounded by the beautiful heritage-listed green garden. The Royal Exhibition Building and the neighbouring Carlton Gardens played a significant role in these most significant events staged in colonial Australia. These events helped to introduce the saga of Australian enterprise and technology to the globe. The Royal Exhibition Building was assembled from slate, steel, timer, brick and a unique combination of Romanesque, Italian Renaissance, Lombardic, and Byzantine styles. It is popular as a commercial exhibition venue, but there are regular tours from Melbourne Museum.
