What are the Different Warning Signs of Hernia

Hernia is a problem that commonly occurs due to bulging of tissues in the groin or the abdomen region. Generally, it is not harmful and is pain less in most of the cases but in a few cases it might bring discomfort and pain. Hernia basically occurs when an internal organ or part of the body protrudes in a way that it comes out through the walls of muscles and tissues that contain it. It usually occurs in the abdomen region, between the chest cavity and in a few cases in the hips. Hernia is not actually life threatening but they do not go away on their own and require certain surgery to prevent the dangerous complication that it might bring in future. Hernia treatment in Jaipur includes thorough diagnosis before the treatment begins, as it might be a sign of some other underlying disease.

There are several different types of hernia. Some of them include:

Inguinal hernia

It is the most common type of hernia that occurs among the people. It occurs when the intestines push out from a weak spot tearing the lower abdominal wall that actually occurs in the inguinal canal. Inguinal canal is found in the groin region; in men it is found near the abdomen area where the spermatic cord passes through the abdomen and reaches the scrotum and the cord then attaches to the testicles whereas in women it contains a ligament that holds the uterus in place. This type of hernia is usually more common in men because a testicle descends through the inguinal canal shortly after the birth and the canal is supposed to close completely later on. But in some cases where the canal doesn't close it leaves the area weak which in some cases leads to hernia.

Hiatal hernia

The type of hernia occurs in the stomach where the stomach protrudes through the diagram leading to the chest cavity. Diaphragm is a muscular sheet that contracts and expands while a person breathes. It also separates the lungs and the abdominal area. When the stomach protrudes it causes discomfort even while breathing. Generally, this type of hernia occurs in old people of age 50 years and above but in few cases a child might also suffer from it by birth which is known as a congenital birth irregularity. Gastroesophageal Reflux disease is often the outcome that is caused by Hiatal hernia. In the stomach, due to excessive acid and some of its content is released back to the oesophagus that causes a burning sensation that causes extreme discomfort to the person.

Umbilical hernia

As the word suggests it affects the umbilical region of the children, when the intestine bulges through the abdominal wall near the belly button, it usually occurs when the umbilical cord is not cut properly. This is very commonly found in children in most of the cases as the child grows the muscles get the proper shape and the navel gets its original shape but it can also be corrected through surgery.

But the surgery can be done only after the five years of age. Adults also have umbilical hernia which is basically caused due to over straining of the abdominal region such as lifting heavy objects or conditions such as obesity or pregnancy.

There are no visible signs of hernia except for a lump that can be seen from the eyes. Though different types of hernias have different symptoms and the bulge occurs in relation to the type of the hernia. In few cases one might see a bulge or a lump which might disappear when a person lies down but if you try to feel it you can actually feel the love inside the stomach this means that the lump is not big enough to protrude outside but still one can visit a doctor and get it diagnosed and treated.
