How to repair a Split air conditioner?

The Split air conditioner, like any other device, can fail. These flaws can be of various types. Suddenly, the appliance does not cool properly, makes a strange noise, or does not turn on at all. They are problems that, by definition, cannot be solved quickly, which is why it is best to consult a professional in the field. So we all want to give you some advice on how to repair air conditioning and what the most common problems are that we can find if our air conditioning breaks down.

Possible problems with Split air conditioning

Split air conditioners are made up of external and internal units that are linked together. The internal unit, as the name implies, is the part of the device that is installed inside the home, whereas the external unit is the one that is installed outside of our home. Even if they are installed separately, this does not mean that if one of the two units fails, the other is unaffected. Following that, we will discuss the potential issues that may arise, their causes, and how the Split air conditioning can be repaired.

The evaporator of the indoor unit leaks water

It can happen, suddenly, that the water that must go to the outside through the pipes of the wall and the casing or plastic joint does not do it. And that causes drops of water to fall instead of air coming out. Why does this happen?. Usually this problem occurs because the drain hose or gutter is clogged. It may be that it is full of dirt or there is something that is obstructing it.

Now, how can we solve this problem? You just have to unplug the Split air conditioner and pull the front part out until you find the drain hose. Next what has to be done is to spray water with a drip bottle. What for? To be able to clean the gutter and hose that is further out of the device. Since, as we discussed earlier, both devices are connected.

Once we have finished the process of spraying water, we must use a brush to remove the obstruction. It is important that you keep in mind that this process must be done until you detect that water falls in bulk on the other side of the wall . To do this, if you want, you can slightly unlevel the internal unit at the part where the hose comes out. And repeat this process until the water flows without interruptions.

Water comes out of the cold air outlet

It may also be the case that water comes out where the cold air has to escape into the indoor unit. This type of problem usually occurs in the cylindrical turbine of the Split air conditioner . The turbine is the one that gives the wind impulse to the device and is located in the front part of the unit. The problem is that on many occasions it is usually imperceptible and can cause us many inconveniences if we try to repair the Split air conditioning ourselves.

The solution for this problem is the following. We have to lift the cover of the indoor unit where the air filters are located and set the device to the maximum "cold" temperature. So that an ice layer then forms on the coil. When we speak of a layer of ice, we refer to a thread of ice that we will notice immediately. If we observe the process for a couple of minutes, we can notice that when the compressor of the outdoor unit is turned off, that thread or layer of ice will melt . This is due to the fact that in the drainage channel a small part of this volume of water is released by default from the turbine.
