Do Bearded Dragons Need Water In Their Enclosure?

Like all living things, bearded dragons also need hydration. Although their natural habitat in the desert is scarce with water, they still need enough water to function. They don’t drink water, but they get hydration from the food they eat. In the wild, they get their water supply from the insects and plants they eat.

When feeding your bearded dragons, make sure the food you give them is rich in moisture. Their hydration is highly dependent on what you give them. One food that does the trick is spraying water on its food. You can mist veggies and the insects before you feed them.

Also, provide clean water inside a shallow water bowl, so your bearded dragons can drink whenever they can. The best water bowl is the ceramic one since it’s sturdy and hard to knock over. This water supply inside their vivarium would also provide vital humidity once it evaporates.

A vital humidity inside their vivarium is especially important when they are shedding. It helps the shedding to occur more smoothly. If the bearded dragon's environment is overly dry, it leads to retention of the shed skin.

Any sign of illness exhibited by your pet should require a visit to your animal hospital Bowmanville, ON for proper medical attention.
