The chemical compound Sodium Sulfide has the formula Na2S. The pulp and paper industries, water treatment, the textile business, and many chemical industrial processes, such as the creation of rubber compounds, sulphur dyes, and oil recovery, all require sodium sulphide. When sodium sulphide comes into contact with wet air, it releases hydrogen sulphide (H2S) as well as its hydrate form. H2S is a gaseous endogenous transmitter with anti-inflammatory and anti-apoptotic effects.


The anti-inflammatory and tissue-protective properties of sodium sulphide, like those of other sulphides, have been studied in inflammation and oxidative stress models. Sodium Sulfide has been found to protect the lungs from ventilator-induced lung injury and to have some cardioprotective properties against cardiac ischemia or reperfusion injury. However, the therapeutic importance and mechanism of action of sodium sulphide, as well as the reproducibility of results in additional investigations, are yet unknown.
