Ethyl acetate is a colorless liquid with a pleasant aroma. It is slightly soluble in water and soluble in the majority of organic solvents, including alcohol, ether, and acetone. It is used as a solvent in a variety of industries, including food and beverages, pharmaceuticals, and packaging.
Solvent adhesives based on ethyl acetate have a higher bond strength and resistance to peeling. Because of its low cost, low toxicity, and pleasant odor, it is primarily used as a solvent or diluent in applications such as nail varnish remover or as a tobacco additive. Ethyl acetate is used as a solvent in flexographic and rotogravure printing inks. Adhesives, cleaning fluids, coated papers, photographic films, and plates are among the other uses for ethyl acetate.
