How Finding Your True Passions in Life Will Equate to Success

Now that it is March, 2 months out from the start of 2021, looking back at the last year is more clear. 2021 was a year full of triumphs, tribulations and new discoveries. As I look back on this year, I realize how I have developed my mindset and attitude toward success. I discovered that all my life I have been conditioned to view/feel success by my tangible achievements such as graduating with a degree or two, and getting a well-paying job or being able to buy a house. I have also discovered that after I achieved those degrees and got that first career job, I didn't feel the joy and triumph that I associated with 'success' for so long. Attaining these degrees, getting the jobs, hitting those financial milestones are all well and good, but they are never going to be enough to fulfill me long term.

The last year I have practiced mindfulness and acceptance; acceptance of my passions, hobbies, and practices that bring me true joy. Through that joy, I have been able to grow into a version of myself that does not find value in tangibles, but rather, I am discovering value within myself and the impact I am making on other people.

I co-host a podcast called Keeping it Cento. The previous version of me would've never shared this online because, well, why would a any professional that comes across my socials, articles or online work care about a micro-podcast? However, the new me recognizes the success of this podcast in the way that it has made me feel, and other people feel, throughout the course of its existence. My sister and I have been able to meet people from all walks of life: financial educators, life coaches, fitness guru's, professional models and so many more! We have held Christmas drives, giveaways, and most importantly, have grown confidence in expressing ourselves/opinions. The sense of pride I have in looking back on the impact the podcast (a project that I thought of as 'just' a hobby) has had on others and myself, has redefined what success looks like for me!

All this to say, don't live life on auto-pilot. Define and intentionally set goals that you truly feel called to achieve, because the journey you embark on to achieve those goals is what's going to make an impact on yourself and those around you. Through that, you will feel the overwhelming sense of pride and success! Annnnnd with all this being said, I invite you to check out our podcast at the link attached.... it would mean a lot!
