How to pick the perfect Men's Engagement Ring

Choosing a men’s ring may be easier than selecting an engagement ring, but it can still be challenging, especially if you're a fashionista. That's not just because men's wedding bands come in a variety of prices, shapes, widths, and materials, but also because it's one piece of jewellery you'll ideally wear for the rest of your life.

Here are some pointers for selecting the ideal men's engagement ring:

  1. Personal style: What matters most when it comes to your wedding ring is simply your personal style. There are no options that are necessarily better or worse; you simply have to browse and decide what kind of thing you truly enjoy. Be wary of going with a design or material that appears to be cool at first glance.
  2. Material: When it comes to wedding rings for men, there is a wide range of material and color options available. Aside from the traditional precious metals like gold, silver, and platinum, there are also modern metals such as tungsten and titanium, as well as more unusual materials such as wood, meteorite, and even antler/dinosaur bone. Rings made of silicone are also becoming increasingly popular.
  3. Modern metals: These materials are being labeled as modern not because they are new, but because they are used in wedding rings. These all have similar appearances and are frequently paired with inlays of other materials such as carbon fiber, turquoise, precious metals, and so on.
  4. Ring width: The width of your wedding ring is likely to make a bigger difference in its overall look and feel than you’d think. Most rings will be between 4 mm and 8 mm wide, though outliers on either end do exist. The other main factor when it comes to ring width, as with all these other categories, is your personal style. A wider ring is a bolder choice and inherently a little more noticeable. A thinner ring is more understated and naturally blends in a bit better rather than standing out.
  5. Fit/Size: The ring can be worn on your finger in two ways: standard or comfort. As you might expect, the standard is how every ring is used to fit, and it simply means that the inside of the ring, the part that comes into contact with your finger, is completely flat. Standard fit is a little more difficult to put on and take off over the knuckle, and it may slide around on the finger a little more. Nowadays, the vast majority of rings are comfortable fit. This means that the inside of the ring is slightly domed, making it more comfortable, easier to put on and take off, and ensuring the ring stays in place a little better.
  6. Budget: An engagement ring is a significant investment, and selecting rings can be an emotional experience. If you don't know what your budget is, you might end up making an emotional purchase that ends up being financially crippling.
