Benoit Morin Named President and Chief Executive Officer of Héma-Québec

The Board of Directors and I are very pleased to announce the appointment of Benoit Morin," said Martine Carré, Chair of the Board of Directors. "Mr Morin was chosen following a rigorous recruitment process. His experience fits perfectly with Héma-Québec's vision, which is based on a partnership with the health system. We are convinced that he will work toward the successful growth of our organization in keeping with Héma-Québec's vital mission to contribute to the health of thousands of Quebecers.

Benoit Morin has extensive management training and holds an executive MBA from Queen's University. He also has a Ph. D. in health ethics and law from the University of Toronto and has worked in senior positions in the healthcare field and academia for more than 20 years.

Before joining Héma-Québec, he was President and Chief Executive Officer of the Montréal West Island Integrated University Health and Social Services Centre.

Mr Morin worked for several years at the University of Toronto, where he helped establish the Toronto University Health Network. Following this, he was part of the founding team of the Canadian Institutes for Health Research.

His expertise and achievements cover many aspects of management, especially strategic positioning, organizational mobilization and change management.

It is with enthusiasm that I join Héma-Québec's large family. The environment is especially conducive to building its strategic position in Québec and beyond its borders. Given the historical excellence for which the organization is known, Héma-Québec can aspire to a new chapter of leadership in the life sciences and as a strategic partner with the Quebec health system. I am privileged to be entrusted with this mandate, which will allow me to team up with an organization that, from its creation, has inspired through its reliability and competency and that now aspires to build a future that combines its major historical achievements with its future ambitions. In building this future, we serve Quebec society", said Mr Morin.
