Wash the mounting point with warm water, then wipe it dry. Wet a clean cloth in warm water, then rub the surface to remove dirt. Cut the LEDs to size using the dotted directions on the strips. Unroll the length of led light strips you need from the spool, then find the dotted lines on each. They are typically placed between brass points every 2 inches (5.1 cm) along with each light. Cut the line to separate the tape from the reel without damaging it. Make sure the tape is long enough for your project.
Cut only at the marked mark. If you cut anywhere else, the tape will not work. The copper dots are there so you can attach the tape to something else while still playing it.
Remember that each LED strip you cut must be plugged into the power supply or plugged into a separate power source. Don't cut out the LEDs unless you absolutely need to if you want to make the process as simple as possible.
