HOW TO MAINTAIN SECURITY WHEN EMPLOYEES WORK REMOTELY

The digital world is full of risks and dangers. As a remote employee, you are especially vulnerable to cyber attacks. Here are some tips to help you stay safe and secure in the digital world:

- Use strong passwords and never reuse them.

- Keep your software up to date.

- Don't click on links or attachments from unknown sources.

- Be careful what you post online.

- Use a VPN when working remotely.

- Back up your data regularly.

By following these simple tips, you can help protect yourself from cyber attacks and keep your data safe and secure. Stay vigilant and stay safe!

HOW TO MAINTAIN SECURITY WHEN EMPLOYEES WORK REMOTELY

ENFORCE AUTHORIZATION AND AUTHENTICATION

There are a few ways to do this- the most common is probably two-factor authentication (or “multi-factor” which is even more secure). That’s where, in addition to a password, the user has to input a code that’s been sent to their phone.

Another way is single sign-on (SSO) solutions. With SSO, employees only have to remember one set of credentials to access all of their applications. This also provides an added layer of security because if an employee leaves the company or their role changes, you can quickly disable their access to everything with the flip of a switch.

USE ENCRYPTION:

Encryption is the process of transforming readable data into an unreadable format. The data can only be decoded by someone with the right key, making it virtually impossible for unauthorized individuals to access it.

There are two main types of encryption: symmetric and asymmetric. With symmetric encryption, the same key is used to encode and decode data. Asymmetric encryption uses a public and private key pair. The public key is used to encrypt data, while the private key is used to decrypt it.

Remote employees should use a VPN:

A VPN (virtual private network) creates a secure, encrypted tunnel between an employee’s device and the company’s network. This prevents anyone outside of the VPN from snooping on the traffic and seeing sensitive data.

BACK UP DATA:

Backing up data is important for any business, but it’s especially critical for remote teams. If an employee’s device is lost or stolen, you want to be sure that all of their work isn’t lost along with it. There are a number of different ways to back up data, so find the solution that best fits your needs.

TRAIN YOUR EMPLOYEES ON CYBERSECURITY:

Cybersecurity should be top of mind for every employee, not just those who work in IT. Make sure everyone on your team knows the basics of staying safe online, such as using strong passwords, being cautious about clicking on links, and not sharing sensitive information over email. You can also provide additional training on specific cybersecurity threats and how to avoid them.

By following these tips, you can help keep your remote employees safe and secure. For more information on CYBERSECURITY AND DATA PRIVACY FOR REMOTE EMPLOYEES,
