Main Differences Between Green Screens and Blue Screens

If you want to add special effects digitally after the fact, you can use what's called a "green screen," which is a wide green backdrop. The background will be changed from green to whatever the special effects team wants in post-production using CGI (computer-generated imagery) or stock footage (called "plates"). The background can be completely updated or simply a section of it, as the screen can expand to fill the space as needed.

Here are some differences between green screen and blue screen :

  • The utilisation of digital photography equipment. Green screens are preferable than blue ones while shooting with a digital camera because of their purity and brightness. If you're going to key out the footage, using green rather than blue will help reduce the amount of background noise.
  • Spill of hues. Even after the green or blue screens are removed in post-production, some of the colours will "spill" into the subjects, particularly at the periphery. This can make the person's hairline or other features look strange or produce a thin outline around them. The colour of your screen might have a positive or negative effect on the colour splash in your shot. In addition to being easier to colour correct than green screen, blue screen produces far less spill.
  • The dominance of the colour blue. Most people and things are blue rather than green. There is a higher prevalence of blue clothing than green apparel, for instance. For this reason, there are no red screens or yellow screens because the best results are achieved when the background colour is not prominent in the topic being filmed.
