MANASLU TSUM VALLEY TREK INFORMATION  

Trekking through the Tsum Valley and the Manaslu region takes you around the highest mountain in the world, Mt. Manaslu (8156m) and through extensive reaches of Tsum Valley at an altitude of 1905 to 5093 meters, rich in Tibetan culture, traditions, and ancient art. As you trek through these far-off and relatively untouched regions of Nepal, you will discover the ancient traditions of Tibetan Buddhism.

The Tsum Valley is surrounded by Boudha Himal and Himal Chuli in the west, Ganesh Himal in the south, and Siring Himal (7187m) in the north. Chumling (Lower Tsum) and Chhaikampar (Upper Tsum) are two significant villages in the region. Numerous mani walls, chortens and prayer flags adorn the trail and the valley is home to some of the holiest of Tibetan monasteries where the sages Guru Rinpoche and Milarepa once worshipped. It is a place where one is able to discover oneself and find peace through the practice of meditation as a trekker. 

 

To explore Manaslu Tsum valley trekking From Kathmandu, we drive to Arughat, where our trek begins. Throughout the trail, we pass by cultivated fields and small villages as we traverse the Budhi Gandaki Valley alongside the river until we reach Lapubesi Village. Through the forest, the trail leads us to the therapeutic hot springs of Tatopani. On the way to Philim, you will soon see the vast mountain ranges, such as Sringi Himal. We pass Chumling Village and then proceed to Gumba Lungdang Pass through pine and rhododendron forests before crossing Siyar Khola (river). Next, we proceed to Ganesh Himal Base Camp and then to Lokpa. As we pass Gurung and Thakali villages, we reach At Samagaun, we stop for the day to better acclimatize before we move on to higher altitudes with Lokpa, Ghap, and Lho. From Samagaun, we ascend to Samdo, Dharamsala, and cross the Larke La Pass (5106m).

It is also extra important information need to know that, the Manaslu Circuit trek with Larke pass is an oasis of biodiversity that is home to about 2,000 species of plants, 33 mammals, 110 species of birds, and 11 species of butterflies, as well as snow leopards, grey wolves, musk deer, blue sheep, and considerable numbers of Himalayan Thar. The forest along the Budi Gandaki area is dominated by oaks and blue pines, while above the Sama villages and high place Samdo villages a few species of ground-hugging rhododendrons persist almost to the snowline. These alpine meadows are characterized by edelweiss, gentians, anemones, and stellar flowers.

If you visit the Manaslu Base Camp via Birendra Lake (Taal) during your acclimatization days in the Sama village. One of the eight highest mountains in the world, 8,163 meters above sea level, the Mt Manaslu base camp trek is an exciting adventure. Four to six expedition groups summit the Manaslu mountain throughout the climbing season, and it is one of the most challenging and difficult expedition mountains in Nepal.

During the Manaslu circuit trek, other opportunities to experience a more exciting ultimate day tour to the Tibet border. If you have more time, you can hike to the pass called Lajyun Bhanjyang, which is 5098 meters high. Lajyun Bhanjyang is a five-hour drive from Samdo, and it takes three hours to get back from the Border. From the Lajyun Bhanjyang, one can enjoy the stunning view of the Tiber Plateau.

The Peoples and Culture of Manaslu circuit Routes


A majority of people living in the Manaslu regions work in the tea house business and in agriculture. Buddhism Bon Po is the religion that they follow. The main attraction for tourists along the trek is the Buddhist monasteries and ancient Tibetan cultures that can be seen along the way.


Manaslu area trek has connected so many trekking trails, there are new home stay trek which is called Ruby Valley trek, and this trek is just opposite side of the Tsmu valley and lap of the Ganesh himal base camp

Many major crops are grown in Sama Gaun and Samdo villages, including buckwheat, wheat, barley, millet, sunflowers, sweet potatoes, pumpkins, beans, and sweet potatoes. It is important to note that since all of these crops are grown on their own land, they are totally dependent on them in order to survive.


Manaslu circuit Larkya La Pass

The Larkya La pass is the highest point on the Manaslu circuit trek route. At 5,167 meters above sea level, it is the highest point on the trek. Due to heavy snowfall in December and January, it is closed during these months. For the rest of the month, it is easier to cross the pass; however, it is a more challenging trek than the Rupina La pass Trek. If you are trekking in colder weather, make sure you carry microspikes with you.
