PTE Exam Format

How does the new PTE Exam format work and are you preparing for it? Since November 2021, the PTE test format has changed. Are you aware of this? As of November 2021, the length of the PTE exam format was 3 hours. Now, it has been reduced to around 2 hours. In addition, the timing in the PTE exam format of the various sections has also been reduced. However, the reduction of time in the PTE format would help the test takers finish the test quicker. The new PTE exam format does not change the personal introduction, read aloud, or repeat sentence sections. However, the number of described images has been reduced from 6-7 questions to 3-4. The number of tasks in the retell lecture has been reduced to just 1-2. Finally, for the writing section, instead of doing 2 to 3 summarized texts, you will have to do 1 to 2. Since you will write the same number of essays, the overall number of speaking and writing questions has been reduced to 28 to 36.

As per the PTE test format there are no changes in listening fill in the blanks, highlight incorrect words, and write from dictation. However, summarize spoken text, multiple choice, multiple answers, highlight correct summary, multiple choice, correct answer and select missing word have been reduced from 2 to 3 to 1 to 2. The PTE test report will also reflect some changes after November 2021. Your overall score and your listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills scores will remain unchanged. Furthermore, the Speaking & Writing section has been shortened from 77-93 minutes to 54-67 minutes under the new PTE format. As per the new PTE exam format, the type of questions in the new PTE academic will remain the same, meaning that the difficulty level also remains the same. Your score requirements will also remain the same: if you need to score 80, then you still need to score 80; thus, the PTE scores are still accepted by colleges and immigration departments around the world.

PTE's new format is faster and sleeker, but the validity and difficulty remain intact. While some types of questions were reduced, overall it is a good news for test takers. Also, the comparison between PTE and IELTS has also changed a little in terms of band comparison. Our PTE experts are dedicated to improving test-takers' scores using the best tips and tricks that are specifically designed for the students to learn and rise. Since PTE score bands are now higher than IELTS exam bands, you need to score lower to rank higher in the IELTS band.
