Your Feet Is Begging For Some Carmina Comfort!

For men who are lovers of classic and trendy footwear, Carmina should not be a strange name. But do you know where they hail from? If you do not know Carmina shoes, here is a description; they are probably one of the best shoes a man can own in terms of fashion, durability, wear, and many other factors. So, here is a bit of history and details about them and how to get Carmina in Philadelphia.

The History of Carmina

Carmina dates back to less than twenty-five years ago. True, it does not sound old, and here's why – the shoe company only became Carmina in 1997. However, before then, it had been a company founded in a small workshop in 1866 by Matthias Pujadas, a local from the town of Inca, belonging to the Spanish island of Mallorca (pronounced ma-yo-ka). Inca is now the third largest town in Mallorca, still the third largest town on the Spanish island, and is famous for the large leather industry to date.

Matthias was a shoemaker at the time and one of the most popular in the town. However, it was not he but his son, Matteo, who expanded the workshop to a shoemaking factory in 1905. This factory became one of the first shoemaking factories in the whole of Spain at the time. Their first years saw them garner a specialty in the production of Goodyear welted shoes.

Close to fifty years after, Jose Pujadas, great-grandson of Matthias Pujadas, decided to expand the company further. This pushed the business into becoming one of the largest shoe factories in the country and came after Jose had been to Florence, Italy, for some shoemaking training. Florence was another hotspot for shoemakers back then. By the following year, the business launched a famous model of shoes named the "round toe loafer."

The first product was a penny loafer (Castellano) named 1330. Of course, it needed improvement by modern-day standards, but it was clear that it was a good foundation to start from, and the results do not lie today.

So, with much progress made, Jose, armed with much training from Florence, decided to expand further. Along with his wife and some of his sons, they rebranded as Carmina in 1998 with the aim of producing top-notch shoes at an affordable price. Their first store was opened in Madrid, right in the heart of Spain's capital.

The following year, they expanded to producing women's shoes of the Goodyear welted variety. Stores in Paris and Barcelona followed, and by 2017, they opened their New York Store.
