A Cryogenic Pump is a type of pump that is designed to handle extremely low-temperature liquids and gases. Cryogenic pumps are designed to operate at cryogenic temperatures and are used to pump cryogenic fluids. The temperature of cryogenic fluids is typically below -150°C. Cryogenic pumps work by using the principle of thermal transpiration, which is the transfer of gas molecules from a low-temperature area to a high-temperature area. Cryogenic pumps are essential in various industries, including the oil and gas industry, aerospace, and pharmaceuticals.


Cryogenic Pump work by using the principle of thermal transpiration. Thermal transpiration is the transfer of gas molecules from a low-temperature area to a high-temperature area. Cryogenic pumps have two chambers, one at a high temperature and the other at a low temperature. The high-temperature chamber is connected to the low-temperature chamber by a small opening, which is known as the throat. The throat is typically less than a millimeter in diameter.


The working of Industrial Automation and Machinery depends on the type of pump being used. However, all cryogenic pumps work on the same basic principle of compressing and circulating cryogenic fluids through the system.

 

In piston pumps, for example, the cryogenic fluid is drawn into the pump through an inlet valve and compressed by a reciprocating piston. The compressed fluid is then discharged through an outlet valve into the delivery system.

 

In centrifugal pumps, the cryogenic fluid is drawn into the pump by a rotating impeller and discharged through a diffuser into the delivery system. The impeller creates a centrifugal force that moves the fluid through the pump and into the delivery system.

 

In turbomolecular pumps, the cryogenic fluid is drawn into the pump and accelerated by a high-speed rotor. The rotor creates a vacuum that pumps the fluid through the system and into the delivery system
