Rebar Couplers are used to join end-to-end of TMT Bar to create a continuous Rebar length without losing its strength. Rebar Coupler is made up of EN8D Material which gives Tensile strength of 650 mpa. In Construction, TMT bar is used to joined using a Coupler sleeve that transfers the force on the rebar. Each rebar coupler consists of a piece of rebar equipped with a thread and coupler sleeve at the right end as viewed in the direction of installation. Rebar couplers are employed in reinforced concrete cement structures to change the system of lapping & welding in reinforcement. Couplers are employed where the long length of the bar is required or when connecting the additional bars to the end of existing bars are connected by wire next to each other.
There is a waste of bars in the welding system & lapping system, alternative system is employed called a rebar coupler or coupler in reinforcement that gives an end-to-end connection for the continuous reinforcement of any structure.
The coupler is cheap and cost-efficient unlike the lapping system, where some portion of the bar is wasted due to lapping. The Couplers are generally known as mechanical splices. It is employed in all construction such as the construction of buildings, bridges, dams, towers, etc.
The reinforcement coupler is used as the main reinforcement of heavy-duty elements and cast-in-situ structures as a replacement for a normal lap joint. The coupler has been designed for the tensile resistance of the rebar. A structure designed with traditional reinforcement can be changed to utilize a reinforcement coupler of the same bar size on site. The coupler serves as a replacement solution for lap-jointed main reinforcements of slabs, beams and columns.
