10 Crazy facts you didn't know about space

Welcome to my channel fellow space enthusiasts, today we are going to dive into eight crazy facts about space that you probably never heard of, so sit back, relax and enjoy the ride.

The True Color of the Sun

Did you know that the sun is not actually yellow? In fact, scientists have discovered that the sun's true color is white. But why does it appear yellow to us? The Earth's atmosphere causes the sunlight to scatter, making it appear yellow from our perspective.

A Day on Venus is Longer than a Year

This may come as a surprise, but did you know that a day on Venus is actually longer than a year? Venus takes approximately 243 Earth days to rotate on its axis, but only takes about 225 Earth days to orbit around the Sun. This means that one day on Venus is equivalent to 117 Earth days.

There is a Planet Made Entirely of Diamond

Yes, you heard that right! Scientists have found a planet named PSR J1719-1438 that is made entirely of diamond. It is approximately five times the size of Earth and is located 4,000 light-years away from us.

The Moon is Moving Away from Us

Did you know that the Moon is slowly moving away from the Earth at a rate of 3.8cm per year? This means that in approximately 50 billion years, the Moon will take 47 days instead of the usual 27.3 days to orbit around the Earth.

The Sound of a Star

Did you know that stars make sounds? While sound waves cannot travel through space, scientists have captured the vibrations from stars and converted them into sound waves. The sound the stars produce has been described as a "humming sound".

There is a Planet Larger Than Jupiter

Did you know that Jupiter is not the largest planet in the universe? Scientists have found a planet named TrES-4b that is 70% larger than Jupiter. However, due to its low density, it only has a mass equivalent to 85 Jupiters.

The Coldest Place in the Universe

The Boomerang Nebula is considered to be the coldest known place in the universe, with a temperature of -272°C which is only 1°C above absolute zero. Located approximately 5,000 light-years away from us, this nebula is a remnant of a dying star.

The First Flower Was Sent into Space

In 1984, the Soviet Union sent the first flower, a carnation, into space to see if it would bloom. The flower bloomed for only a few days before dying due to the harshness of space.
