How to cleaning LG washing machine drum

LG washing machine drum cleaning

The "Drum Clean" mode, provided in many modern models of LG washing machines, is needed in order for your washing machine to last the maximum time. The drum is considered the most vulnerable part of the washing machine because it comes into contact with various types of dirt (grease, dirt of organic and mineral origin, etc.), and with the active substances of detergents.

In addition, with frequent use of the machine (and this is considered 1 wash in 3 days), moisture does not have time to evaporate from the drum, tank, rubber pipes and other “insides”. This leads to the appearance of mold and a putrefactive odor, which is harmful both to humans (microparticles of pathogenic flora get on clothes during washing), and dangerous to the washing machine, as it significantly reduces its service life.

Proper and monthly cleaning of the washing machine drum will help prevent this.

How to turn on LG washing machine drum cleaning

Many models of LG washing machines are equipped with a special “Drum Clean” function designed to clean the internal parts from dirt. Starting the cleaning mode is very simple:

  1. Turn on the washing machine with the "Start" button. Wait for the beep.
  2. Look for two buttons with an asterisk (*) icon on the Control Panel. Press and hold them down for a few seconds.
  3. Press the power button again. This command activates the cleanup mode.
  4. Duration is approximately 90 minutes.
  5. After the cleaning process is completed, the washing machine will emit a corresponding sound signal. Turn it off in the usual way and open the hatch door slightly to dry the inside of the tank.

Keep in mind that you need to clean the drum without any special tools and when the tank is completely empty (without laundry).

Also, in order to minimize contamination of the washing machine drum, experts recommend:

  1. At least once every seven to ten days, wash things with hot water (but not exceeding 70 degrees).
  2. After each wash, check if there are any elements of washing powder or other detergents left in the tray. If necessary, wash the tray and leave it ajar to dry.
  3. After each use of the machine, wipe the rubber gasket of the hatch dry.
  4. Leave the tub of the washing machine open for at least 60 minutes after each wash to allow the interior to dry out.

Before cleaning the drum of the washing machine, it is necessary to clean the filter to facilitate the process of draining the water.
