How to Pack Office Chairs During a Move? 4 Tips from Professional Office Movers

Whether you’ve got a dedicated office space for your brand or set up a home office, you certainly have office chairs at your place. When you’re moving it, you need to pack these chairs for the move. Thus, you’ll need professional office movers to move your workplace to another location. Moving an office chair is trickier than moving a regular house chair. Improper handling can make it tougher for you to pack and move the chair. You can even damage your chair if you don’t follow the right tips.

So, how should you pack your office chairs for the move? Let’s learn that in the below blog post.

A step-by-step guide to packing your office chair for the move

The easiest way to pack and move an office chair is to cover it in protective covers and move it in one piece. In this way, you’ll need less time and effort to pack your chair for the move.

Here’re the steps to pack your office chairs for the move,

1. Prepare the office chair for the move.

One of the most vital things about packing an office chair is to prepare them for the move.

i) Check if your office chairs come with adjustable seats, armrests and backrests or not.

ii) If yes, then set all the parts at their lowest positions. Also, slide the seat slider all the way back if possible.

iii) Also, adjust the cylinder of the chair to the lowest position when packing for the move.

2. Wrap the delicate parts of your chair in bubble wrap.

After you set all the adjustable parts of the chair at their lowest positions, ensure to wrap their parts (the delicate ones) carefully.

i) First, take bubble wrap and wrap the arms of the chair along with the hydraulic rod in a layer of it.

ii) Next wrap the gas cylinder of your office chair (if applicable) and the star base along with the piece connecting the backrest to the seat in bubble wrap as well.

iii) Use strong packing tape to secure the protective wrappings in place. Doble tape for extra security.

3. Cover the body of the chair with protective slipcovers.

Now that you’ve covered the delicate parts of the chair, it’s time to cover the body of the chair.

i) Check if your office chair has come with a protective slipcover or not. If yes, then place it over the body of your office chair.

ii) If not, then you should use a moving blanket (or old large towels) to cover the seat and the back of the chair.

iii) Ensure to use stretch wrap to keep the protective covering intact.

iv) Alongside that, use sturdy packing tape to secure the coverings underside of the chair.

4. Wrap the entire chair in large moving blankets.

It’s the final step of packing the office chair for the move. In this step, all you’ll have to do is wrap the entire chair for safe relocation.

i) Take a large moving blanket (or furniture pad) and spread it on the floor of your place.

ii) Lay your office chair on its back over the spread blanket. Ensure that it isn’t in the centre of the blanket. Experts suggest placing the chair towards the corner of the blanket that’s nearest to its top. It’ll ensure that the larger parts of the blanket will be at the base of the chair.

iii) Now wrap the blanket around your office chair. Start wrapping it from its sides and then fold the top corner of the blanket over. Thus, the corners of the blanket overlap over the seat and cover the chair cylinder completely.

iv) Pull the bottom corner of the blanket over the base of the chair. It should also completely cover the star base of the chair.

v) Now secure the moving blanket or furniture pad in place with sturdy packing tape. Place the tape around the base and back of the chair. Also put a piece of it across and under the seat.

vi) Use a stretch wrap to secure the moving blanket and protect the chair from moisture.

Can’t understand how to pack office chairs when moving out? Instead of trying to do everything yourself, hire professional office movers to do the moving tasks. So, you can focus on the packing tasks.
