The marketing strategy of a company is its overall game plan for reaching out to potential leads and converting them into clients of the company's products or services. The company's value proposition, core brand messaging, data on target client demographics, and other high-level elements are typically included. Having a good marketng strategy would be and advantage for the company.


A marketing plan brings together all components of the client journey and offers each department visibility. This allows the company to concentrate on the resources at hand, figuring out how to make the most use of them in order to improve sales and gain a competitive advantage.


Why should we spend so much time and effort crafting a long-term strategy that will almost certainly need to be revised anyhow, in a world where change is so frequent and unpredictable?


The answer is that we don't have repeatability or scale without a strategy in place.


While your marketing plan may need to be adjusted or tweaked on a frequent basis, it gives you a place to start and makes it easy to observe comparable or improved results from each campaign without having to start from scratch. It also gives the marketing department a sense of regularity and steadiness.


A menu is a repeatable procedure and a framework, as Christopher Penn ingeniously compares a marketing plan to. For example, if your Thanksgiving dinner menu generally consists of turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, corn, and pumpkin pie, it's certainly safe to predict that this will remain consistent year after year. Yes, you may alter your methods or recipes, and you may even add or remove an extra item or two, but the overall strategy remains the same.As marketers, our'menu' is likely to look the same each quarter as we strive for a similar result of brand exposure or lead generation using a range of 'dishes,' such as email marketing, SEO (search engine optimization), PPC (pay-per-click advertising), and so on. While our recipes are versatile and can be changed, our menu remains rather consistent, allowing us to devote more effort to developing our recipes rather than changing the menu every week/month/quarter/year.
