Tips for designing a Custom Hat for your Team

Custom hats are one of the most effective ways to outfit your team. It keeps your team members protected from the sun, gets more people to see your logo, and adds a professional edge to your business.

But how do you design the custom cap that is perfect for your company? Our design experts recommend looking for these four factors - colors, logo placement, fonts, and customization options. Let us take a look at each of them.

Logo Placement

Your logo can be placed on the Center Front, left or right front panels (for six-panel caps), left or right side panel, or the back arch of the cap. Most branded caps will combine one or more of these design locations based on requirements

The logo of your company should ideally be placed on the front panel of the hat to make it easily visible, making it an ideal spot for your main logo. Back panels and the arch around the closure are great locations for your email address, phone number, or even the tagline of your brand.

Colors

The colors on your promo cap speak volumes about your brand. To properly communicate your brand's ideas, you have two sets of colors to keep in mind - the colors in your design and the one on the cap.

One of the best ways to make the two colors work together is by using complementary colors. The general guideline is to use dark colored logos on light colored caps and vice versa.

Fonts

The fonts in your logo also play a big part in making the promo hand stand out. When customizing a cap, it is best to use san serif fonts that are easy to embroider. You will have an easier time embroidering the cap, and the text on your logo will be clean and legible.

Customization Method

Finally, you have the type of customization method for decorating the cap. The most popular methods are 3d and flat embroidery. However, these customization techniques are best suited for somewhat simple designs. If you want to decorate your business cap with a full-color design with lots of details, heat transfer is the recommended method.
