Treatment without surgery for hair loss with PRP

Non-surgical hair treatments

In milder cases of alopecia, or in those patients who do not wish to undergo a hair micrograft, we have different non-surgical treatments that are ideal for strengthening the scalp and treating hair loss. These treatments are hair mesotherapy.

Hair mesotherapy is a technique that consists of infiltrating subcutaneously, in the matrix of the affected hair, small microinjections of minerals and vitamins, necessary for the hair to grow and last.

Is capillary biostimulation using PRP a new technique?

Injections of platelet-derived growth factors, or PRP, is a recent technique within the field of regenerative medicine that is currently used in many medical specialties: Traumatology, rheumatology, sports medicine, ophthalmology, plastic surgery, aesthetic medicine, dentistry, In dermatological treatments it has been used for a few years in pathologies such as ulcers, scars, photoaging treatment... and in hair loss from different causes.

The plasma obtained from the centrifugation of the blood previously extracted from the patient contains a large amount of growth factors capable of regenerating tissues. It is administered through small injections of mesotherapy in the affected area, producing an improvement in the vascularization of the scalp, as well as a prolongation of follicular life and an increase in hair in the anagen phase.

What is the procedure?

Blood is drawn from the patient, centrifuged, and three layers are formed based on density: the bottom layer, made up of red blood cells; the middle layer, made up of white blood cells and platelets, and the top layer, rich in platelets. Once the plasma rich in growth factors has been obtained, it is selected using the same syringe and then introduced into the dermis through distributed microinjections.

What are the benefits?

It stops the fall, strengthens the roots, gives the hair a more lush and strengthened appearance. In addition, it restores skin vitality, accelerates epithelial and endothelial regeneration, and induces the formation of new capillaries, improving the vascularization of the rest. It also regulates and stimulates the release of growth factors from other cells, neighboring the follicle, induces an increase in the number of cells, improves the metabolism of the hair, causing the formation of reticular collagen, improving the trophism of the hair matrix, increases the number of hairs in the anagen phase in androgenetic alopecia and improves the metabolism of the hair cuticle in dystrophic hair.

It is well known that blood is made up of different types of cells (red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets). However, what has been discovered in recent years is that in the platelet wall there are proteins that have a very high regenerative power. And that through a centrifugation process these cells can be separated from the blood. In this sense, PRP is extracted from the patient's own blood and consists of obtaining growth factors released by platelets, which when applied to the injury site stimulates the production of growth factors that are involved in regeneration and tissue repair. As it is prepared with the patient's own blood, there are no risks of allergic responses or any rejection.
