Know the Uses of Bag in Box Packaging

Bag in Box Packaging has numerous widespread commercial applications. The most frequent ones include supplying syrup to soda fountains and dispensing bulk-supplied condiments like ketchup or mustard in the restaurant sector (especially in fast food outlets). The initial purpose of Bag in Box Packaging technology—dispensing sulfuric acid to replenish lead-acid batteries in garages and dealerships—remains in use today. The user opens one end of the box (sometimes through a pre-scored opening) and connects an appropriate connector to a built-in port on the bag to pump out the contents for commercial syrup applications.

A one-way valve built into the port itself prevents contamination of the syrup in the bag by only opening under pressure from the connected connector. For consumer applications like boxed wine, a tap is already present on the bag and extends through a hole that has already been cut in the box. The user only needs to find the tap on the box's exterior. Bag in Box Packaging is popular with producers since it is affordable. By allowing capacities between 1.5 and 1000 litres, Bag in Box Packaging also improves the environment by requiring less packaging and labelling. It has a lower carbon footprint because the substance it is made of is lighter than the other plastic substitutes.

The bags are offered as web bags with holes between each bag or as singles for semi-automatic machines. These are employed in automated filling systems where the bag is divided on the production line either before or after the bag is automatically filled. There are other options that can be utilised on the bag instead of the tap, depending on the intended application. Up to 85 °C (185 °F) of chilled product can be used to fill the bags. Form seal fill (FSF) technology can be used to create Bag in Box Packaging, in which the bags are created online from reels of film, the FlexTap is inserted, and the contents are then filled on a built-in rotary head filler. Currently, wine, soda fountain syrup goods, milk, liquid chemicals, and water are packaged using the Bag in Box Packaging.
