Nowadays, communication has gained even more possibilities with the invention of the Internet that dramatically changed the way of peoples interaction. Some people believe that this type of communication has many advantages, as it helps shy individuals make friends via social networks. However, one cannot deny that besides providing more chances for unsociable people, such type of interaction has some drawbacks such as limited possibilities in the process of communication and the reduced amount of face-to-face conversations.

First of all, texting as a type of communication has limited options. For example, while communicating with the help of texting, people miss such important ways of expressing emotions as gestures, mimics, and body language. Sitting in front of the computer, communicants cannot see the real emotions of each other. Instead of it, during such process people have to rely only on what is written. As a result, such type of communication may be artificial.

Second, communication online affects the relationships with other people so that face-to-face talks become a rare phenomenon. As one may observe, many people would rather stay at home and communicate via Internet than agree to a personal meeting. This tendency also may be visible in the way they greet each other with special events. In fact, nowadays, people tend to send a message instead of paying a visit. Thus, interpersonal relationships become more distant.

On the other hand, online communication is a useful solution for those people who feel uncomfortable while talking face-to-face. In fact, many people do not hesitate to post some comments on social networks as well as write a message to a stranger while in real life, an attempt to become acquainted with others may cause problems. However, virtual communication still does not resolve the difficulties that appear during the face-to-face conversation. Instead, it makes a person even more closed and concentrated only on the online aspect of communication, which is believed to be the only way for those people to make friends. Thus, such communication does not contribute to developing interpersonal skills.

Concluding, despite the fact that virtual communication has its advantages such as helping shy people find new social connections, it does not resolve the problems arising during the face-to-face conversation. On the contrary, the lack of real communication makes peoples relationships even more distant and artificial.
