
About Non-compact Round Conductors
Non-compact round conductors are ordinary stranded conductors. When twisting, the conductor is compressed without pressing rollers or dies. There are natural gaps between the strands of a stranded conductor. The most common ones, such as common wire stranded conductors and ACSR, are non-compact conductors.
About Compact Round Conductors
The compact round conductor is formed on the basis of the non-compact round conductor. When twisting, use a round pressure roller or a round pressure die to compress the conductor to reduce the gap between the twisted conductor wires. The conductor is still round, the conductor cross-sectional area is unchanged, but the outer diameter of the conductor is smaller, which can reduce the amount of cable insulation, sheathing and other materials and the outer diameter of the finished cable. Compact round conductors are generally used for low, medium and high voltage power cables and overhead insulated cables.
The advantages of compact conductors are as follows: Reduced conductor outer diameter. The cost savings of multi-channel cables can be considerable if the process is strictly followed during production. The electric field is uniform, especially for medium and high voltage cables above 6kV, a strict voltage ratio should be specified to prevent the charge from concentrating on the surface of the conductor, causing tip discharge, insulation breakdown or burnout. The conductor shield in medium voltage cables also has the effect of a uniform electric field. Because the gap between the conductors is very small, the conductors are not easy to enter the water and cause water tree discharge.
About Special-shaped Conductors
The special-shaped conductor is the conductor of the cable when it is twisted. The conductor is compacted by the fan-shaped or tile-shaped pressing wheel to make the conductor into a certain shape, so it is called the special-shaped conductor. Compression can also reduce the gap between the single wires of the stranded conductors. After the cable is formed, the insulating core wires of the prefabricated cable are tightly combined, and no filler material is required. It can reduce the amount of materials such as wrapping, lining, armoring, and outer sheathing, and effectively reduce the outer diameter of the optical cable. Shaped conductors are mainly used in low voltage power cables.
