5 Simple Ways To Keep Your Content Fresh

"If it isn't surprising, don't post it," says American writer Derek Sivers. But, how do you produce new content regularly without getting repetitive? While churning out high-quality content regularly, it is likely that at some point, you will feel you are running out of ideas or you will get stuck. In that case, you can get some inspiration by looking at these five simple ways until you get your creative juices flowing again.

GENERATE UNIQUE CONTENT IDEAS

Share your personal experiences from your life. These could be:

  • Your big days
  • Milestones you have achieved
  • Your first time doing something
  • A small moment of your day

Don't try too hard to make your experiences something they are not. They don't always need to be inspirational or triumphant. You don't always have to teach something to your audience. Sometimes, all you need to do is share a simple story that could be good, bad, awful, funny, or even mundane.

  • Teach people how they can do something by showing how you did it.

Example: How I made my first lac as a Virtual Assistant, and so can you.

  • Who says opinionated content doesn't work? Put out polarizing content, and it will attract like-minded people.

Example: Why is lead generation better than content creation?

  • Step by step guides.

Example: 5 easy steps to get started with your freelancing journey.

  • Show results

               Example: How did I scale a $50 project into a $1500 high-ticket project?

  • Preventable

Example: Don't make these three mistakes in your next interview

  • Storytelling

Example: My journey to 15k (Following on any social media)

                                                   or

How did I start making videos online at the age of 14?

  • Debunking myths around any relevant topic

Example: Truth behind building a 7 figure business

STAY UP TO DATE WITH THE ANALYTICS

Your ultimate goal is to grow your audience, and for that, first, you need to know who your audience is, and this is where analytics comes in—knowing which post worked for you and then trying to analyze why is crucial. However, it is likely for the algorithm to fail you at times because if something worked for you once, it doesn't necessarily mean that the same thing will work for you again.

Numbers are great for reach and engagement, but they can be misleading because you are not putting out content to gain a certain number of followers or views. You should be able to make conversions and build a loyal following and connections that stay with you for the kind of content you create, not just for that viral post or video.

The trick here is to keep experimenting so that you may end up cracking what exactly resonates with your audience better. Engaging with your audience and your fellow content creators or the people whose content you admire can also work wonders for you.

For example, if you regularly engage on a platform like LinkedIn and write comments on other people's posts. You can look up which one of those comments got the best response, and based on that, you can curate your next post.

FOCUS ON THE FLOW OF YOUR CONTENT

The way you present your content matters. Write your content so that every sentence leads to the next one. While you edit, try to remove unnecessary words. See if you can rephrase sentences to improve readability. Write short sentences.

Niche down

If you want to write content unique to you, you need to dig deep. It would be best if you answered questions that nobody else is answering. But the question here is, how do you niche down?

Are you a writer?

Are you a scriptwriter?

Are you a freelance scriptwriter?

Are you a freelance scriptwriter for YouTube channels?

Are you a freelance scriptwriter for YouTube channels in entrepreneurship?

And there you have it. Your content only needs to focus on freelancing, scriptwriting for YouTube, and entrepreneurship. There are plenty of creators, but not many of them are likely freelance script writers for YouTube in entrepreneurship. Keeping this in mind, you can create content specific to this. This will help you produce new content that you can only write.

Don't overcomplicate it

There's plenty of content already out there on every possible topic. Instead of adding to the pile, you want to give your audience something fresh, whether a blog or your website copy. You need to put your message across clearly. If it's a brand, you need a clear name and message. Within 5 seconds of landing on your website, the person should be able to understand what's on offer. This is possible only when you keep it simple and direct. Write or speak like you are talking to one individual at a time. Then, ask yourself-

  • Who are you talking to, specifically?
  • What are your market, sub-market, and micro-market?

A SOLID HOOK

No matter what kind of content you create, your intro has to be interesting. It should immediately grab the reader's attention and leave them wanting more. The first few words you make, publish, and speak are meant to get you noticed.

Depending on the first few words you put out, your audience will decide if they want to continue reading or watching the rest of your content. If your intro is too monotonous or weak, the audience won't be glued till the end.

Hooks are vital as they are the first few words you hear in an Instagram reel or a YouTube video, the headline of a newsletter, and the first few words of a LinkedIn post. So, how do you come up with these catchy hooks?

  • A question/statement that stirs a pain point in your audience.

Example: What is stopping you from closing high-ticket clients?

  • A statement telling how a particular result can be achieved.

Example: This is how I built a six-figure business at 22

  • A statement that surprises or shocks the audience.

Example: Earn $1000+ working part-time as a freelancer

  • A statement telling the audience something they could be doing wrong.

Example: 3 mistakes to avoid while talking to prospects

  • A question that intrigues your target audience.

Example: How to create a perfect carousel?

REPURPOSE YOUR OLD CONTENT

Nobody remembers your content as you do. You need to repurpose it now if you aren't doing it already. There are many ways to create a system for yourself and produce fresh content from your previous ideas.

  • Use analytics to sort your content with maximum reach before repurposing.
  • Once you have picked up the ones you like, edit those pieces slightly by making minor tweaks here and there.
  • Understand the importance of distribution on various platforms. By this, I don't mean that you should start posting screenshots of your tweets on Instagram or LinkedIn. Instead, see if your long-form post on LinkedIn can turn into a great Instagram caption for your next post on a similar topic.
  • Repurposing your original content will save you a lot of time and effort. Not just that, it will help you with SEO as well. When you create multiple pieces on one specific keyword, it also helps you with getting discovered by search engines.
  • It makes you reinforce a single message or your brand voice until it clicks profoundly and widely enough on diverse platforms.
  • You also get exposure to a new audience on different marketing channels.
